Galeria Horizon opens its doors again with the exhibition Quietude, a group of monochromatic paintings and objects created by Ralph Bernabei during the past few months of lockdown.

What seems to be occurring with Bernabei’s most recent work is a type of chemistry between artist and viewer - a primal, preverbal communication- mediated by the painting themselves. It is not that the paintings are without content- they speak volumes- but communication only occurs in the meeting with the viewer. The individual brings his or her own background to that interaction, and meaning comes into being when the content of the painting and the content of the viewer unite. The paintings speak a universal, deeply human language, that reflect in part, our own inner worlds.
